How to apply cream foundation

If you're here, you're likely looking for an answer to how to apply cream foundation. Cream foundation is not necessarily new, but it had been gaining popularity over the last few months due to its smooth application and ability to to mix well with other products. It is much different from a liquid foundation but tends to match skin tones better and doesn't oxidize (turn orange/yellow) after all day wear. Many women are used to applying liquid foundation with their hands, pour it out and rub it on. That's not only waisting product but not going to work with a cream foundation. It's best to use makeup tools to apply foundation in order to control the amount used and clean placement. I choose to use a dry Blenderful sponge for a medium coverage, but you could use it wet for light coverage or a foundation brush for full coverage. To check out my favorites, click the image below.

First, it is best to get your color matched based on a clean face, neck & collar area. To get your foundation matched for free with me, click here. Once you have your foundation, make sure you have a clean & moisturized face using a cleanser & moisturizer for is meant for your skin type (find more about this HERE

Apply a primer of your choosing to your skin, I like LimeLife's Perfect Foundation for my face because it contains contains organic and plant based ingredients to moisturize and protect your skin from hazardous damage from the sun while fighting signs of aging. The three-in-one formula moisturizes, protects and primes skin before makeup application, or can be worn alone.

This is where your application steps are completely your call. You can apply your eye makeup now or after your foundation is on, it doesn't make much of a difference so have fun & try it both ways!

To apply your foundation swirl your brush or sponge in your color and apply to your entire face. (if you use color correcting concealer, do that first) With a brush, apply in a circular rotation around your face. If using a sponge, wet or dry, dab it around your face. Both of these actions become easier the longer the cream foundation is on your face due to the warmth of your skin.

Follow this application with pressed powder and setting spray for an all day look!

For a tinted moisturizer, you can put a little of your everyday moisturizing cream and your foundation together on the back of your hand or the lid of your foundation compact to apply following these same steps.
